Our concept of a "Breathing station" is about the control wind flow into a city. In this station we address the topics of the surrounding terrain in the layout and structure and its effects of changing winds during different seasons. Also we considered a green combination by providing a bird path. The start of this station will bring new fresh air and green zones into city.

We propose "Drafty port". "Drafty port" is the space of the relaxation which people and nature can pass comfortably. "Drafty port" distribute a sea breeze is used in densely-populated zone. People visit this site so that it may be led to a wind. "Drafty port" tells us a attraction in the site east and west called the canal space and history-nature space which were divided on the track. The attraction of the city is connected with one focusing on "Drafty port."

Sakura is the symbol of Japan. So our design shape for the subway station is sakura blooming in thewave. We create g4S DESIGNINGh to combine the beauty of the station with the sustainable usingof it. The first S is sakura. We choose sakura as our major design element. The second S is sea. Thetop of the subway station is using some light and thin materials to create the shape like wave. Thethird S is sustainable. We create the sakura solar energy machine to reduce the consumption ofenergy to operate the elevator. The last S is smart city. We make some technical extensions on our works of compilation, mainly including the synchronization of real and virtual and noise analysis.

I propose that cleaning of air by the plan for afforestation. A green belt has visual effects, cleaning air effects and other effects. So we should make the best use of a green belt. We paid attention to the cleaning air effect.A vast green belt is arranged in the planning area. There is open space in the green belt. The open space is made use of cafeteria, events and more. And, many people are going to go the green belt. The building is arranged around the green belt. It is a part of gathering the wind. Gathering the wind is cleaning by the green belt, and it is sent surrounding area.@@@@@@@@@@

The design of this station front is based on geco-greenh concept. The reason why this concept is chosen, is because of the global warming issue. This is not something new, in fact many countries all over the world has started showing their support towards solving this worldwide problem through total urbanization of their cities. Tokyo, one of the most busiest city in the world, is in dire need of an environmental friendly urban space. Therefore, this new station front also known as gTokyo Bay Tower Stationh encompasses on creating an environmental friendly space, as well as providing an urban space that allows people to enjoy the greenery in the center of Tokyo.

In the Edo era, there was a gate called Okido. This gate was an entrance to Edo and the only gate to get to Edo from Tokaido. Okido was abolished in the Meiji era. In stead of the gate, the first Japanese railroad was constructed by the side of the gate on the sea. The sea cold be seen from the railroad and the railroad commanded from a close view of Daiba to a distant view of the Bousou Peninsula. A hundred years has passed since the end of the Meiji era. Shibaura has developed into one of the international city. As the urban growth, people reclaimd the land from the sea and caused us to lose the view of Odaiba. In stead of our fulfilling life, we lost the scenic beauty. Now, we are facing the second trend of internationalization in Japan. In order to meet the current needs, we will get back the environment like the sea we had before and stimulate the flow of traffic more.

General comments by Prof. Yasushi Ikeda, Chief of executive committee of VDWC
The theme of this competition presented a challenge far more difficult than that seen in any other student competition. This yearfs competition challenged students to devise a sophisticated function of a large scale transport hub and to develop the surrounding urban environment at the same time by taking into consideration the environmental and historical aspects, the kind of challenge considered difficult even for professionals. The announcement of Tokyofs successful 2020 Olympic bid which came during the competition demanded a higher sense of realism in the development of the area surrounding the target site, which will in the future provide a route to a number of domes and stadiums for the Olympic games. However, we must not forget that this theme was given for a particular purpose which relates to the fact that it encourages the use of BIM. Recent years we saw BIM spread worldwide and being used more often, and the essence of BIM has taken the communication among human beings each with various abilities to the next level as we can clearly see that the fruits of any collaborative work are being produced with a higher quality. BIM is a innovative team work tool which helps unite wisdom of many disciplines in a way that was previously not possible and integrates perspectives from multiple angles, enabling the production of an integrated masterpiece that would surprise even the creators themselves. This is because through the sharing of 3D data amongst a team it is possible predict the future transport hub not just from the visual perspective but also from the perspective of structural rationality, traffic state, and environmental effects via simulation, and to expand the range of things feasible by trial-and-error approach, which will in turn help bring forth the kind of mutual inspiration that cannot be generated from a single personfs point of view. With that being said, even a student can challenge any task no matter how difficult it is by expanding the cooperation circle, and the reason why we have set such a theme is because we wanted the students to specifically portray the vision of the future expected in the city. It is clearly evident that all of the nominated teams challenged themselves to integrate various perspectives in their project by building team power and that they were successful in doing so. It is worth noting that a team can be even more diverse if you find members from different background and discipline, and diversify the role of each individual within the team. We hope that this diversification trend grows further in the coming years and that this would lead to design proposals being submitted in a quality higher than ever. We are proud to set the kind of theme that present students the utmost challenge and we will continue to do so as this is our way of asking students to demonstrate not their individual skill but rather their cooperative skills as a team in terms of design through the use of BIM.
